Has anyone made steel-cut oatmeal in a 3.5 qt. slow cooker?

I have found a lot of recipes on-line, but they contain butter, cream, fruit juice, maple syrup etc. I have a new stock pot and have yet to use it. Will it blow up while I am sleeping if I simply use 1 to 4—oats and water, on low setting?
