What for you is the best soundtrack in a war movie, or even individual song or piece of music will do?

Every great war movie requires an equally good soundtrack.Whether to portray a haunting quality or as an upbeat, inspirational musical score. What would your examples be of such a piece,in a particular scene perhaps or the entire soundtrack in general?

I’m a pretty big fan of the soundtrack to We Were Soldiers, namely the track “Flying High.” So chilling and beautiful.

I kind of like The Hurt Locker’s soundtrack, even though it’s all instrumental. Lord, but I love the Inglourious Basterds soundtrack even better.

@efritz Ahh we Basterds should stick together. As in all Tarantino movies it surely rocks.

The scene in Apocalypse Now when they blast Ride of the Valkyries from a helicopter.

Full Metal Jacket, Paint it Black, The Mickey Mouse song, Surfin Bird. It was a pretty unique sound track as far as war movies go.

@Silhouette Got to be my favourite.Only now associate Surfin Bird with Peter Griffin also, it’s all good.
