Is there anything I should be sure to see while I'm near Seattle?

Asked by Seaofclouds (23108points) May 16th, 2010

I’m going to Ft. Lewis for surgery the last week of May. I have 2 days where I don’t really have anything to do, except for an early morning pre-operative appointment. I will be pretty close to Seattle and have a rental car. Is there anything I should be sure to see while I’m there? I will be traveling alone, so preferably stuff that’s safe to do alone.

Well, if I were you, I would go the other way and go to see Mt. Rainier. (You’re only a less than two-hour drive.) Paradise has some nice trails and the wildflowers would be blooming this time of year.

Then, as for Seattle, go to the waterfront downtown. You can see the Pike Place Market, the Olympic Mountains, the ferries. Have a cup of coffee in a coffee shop.

I would spend the day around Seattle Center; it has a great science fiction and music museum that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Pike’s Place, the Underground City, and if you can find it, the troll under the overpass.

I’m not joking.

@Seaofclouds The troll is located in Fremont under the Aurora Bridge.

If I were you, I’d drive over and see me.

I agree with @filmfann here, though I must say that if you go about ¼-mile West of the Troll (about two blocks past the statue of Lenin) there is an awesome little deli to grab lunch.

For the most part, you will want to avoid Aurora Ave and I-5 unless you like sitting in traffic.
