NSFW REAL NSFW Does anyone have any personal experience with using electricity during sex?

Asked by Adirondackwannabe (36713points) May 18th, 2010

I was just forwarded two clips from a porn site. One was about using electricity for “CBT” and the other one was from a site called wired pussy. Both involved electrical shocks to the genitals. The guy didn’t seem to be having much fun, the girl said it was intense but she wanted to do it again. First, isn’t it dangerous to mix electricity with anything, and second, what does it feel like. Does anybody have any thoughts?

Well…huh. Who knew? I’m thinking it can feel good because back in the day when I used different vibrators, the settings would go quite high in the vibrating/buzzing aspect and it felt like there were little electrical shocks to the clitoris. Same thing happened when I used neck massagers for masturbation.

Not direct electric shocks. We’ve played with a “violet wand”. As long as you stay with the attachments with a large surface area, there’s no chance of burns. We also played with a TENS unit; it was originally prescribed for leg muscle therapy, but we discovered uses on other areas of the body. Both of these devices have a potential to do harm, but are relatively safe within sane limits. I’d be especially wary of using these devices on anyone with heart problems, especially the TENS unit on the chest area (but that’s not where we used it).

I’ve had the electrical therapy on a shoulder and that gets pretty intense, but I’d nevet thought of using it elsewhere. It looked pretty wild. I was hesitant to post this, but I decided what the heck, liven up the day.

A TENS unit is always nice to have around.

I’ve used a “Violet Wand”. It was… um… interesting. I would do it again, if I got the chance.

Wow. I thought I was adventuresome. What the fluther is a TENS or a Violet wand????

A Violet Wand basically generates static electricity and concentates it by means of the attachments it comes with.

It works on the same principle as a Tesla coil which used to be used by stage magicians to create rather spectacular displays which appeared more dangerous than they were in reality.

Because the Tesla coil diffused the static electricity over a large area it looks really impressive in a dark theater. But because it was so diffuse, it just wasn’t dangerous in the same way as putting a metal fork in a socket or something.

The Violet Wand is just a smaller version.

It’s called that cuz if gives off a faint violet glow.

I’m not really that much of a techno person but I used to have a very adventurous friend who loved this kind of stuff and explained everything thoroughly.

The primary danger with a Violet Wand is keeping it in one spot for too long. It should be kept moving.

Other than that, it’s generally regarded as pretty safe. It won’t electrocute you any more than rubbing your feet on the carpet and touching a doorknob will. It is static electricity just like a Tesla coil is.

this is all fascinating

The main disadvantage to Violet Wands is the outrageous prices charged :)

They aren’t that common but can be found (or special ordered) in high end erotica boutiques like The Pleasure Chest or some web sites with similar products.

@Simone

Yeah, I figured you might appreciate this. You are quite an open minded adventurer.

@Buttonstc You’re right. A TENS unit used correctly gives a lot more pleasure for $150 than a violet wand does for $1200. The wand just looks cool.

Wow. Where did you go shopping? We got ours for $500 or $600.

Admittedly it was a while ago but $1200 is mind boggling.

You can buy a TENS LG 7000 from LG medical for about $60. It works great.

@Buttonstc Ours has all the attachments and the fancy case. I was probably ripped off, but when milady wanted something…

My TENS has a probe attachment. It was prescribed to me by a gynaecologist to help work my pelvis floor muscles, as they were so weak after a prolonged labour. It feels weird. Not very sexual for me, but that might be due to all the associations with the pain and exhaustion of childbirth. Knock yourselves out though.
