Recommend modern comics, manga or graphic novels for 25 y.o male to try out? read for details please?

I’m trying to surprise my boyfriend with some comics/graphic novels for his Bday. He has mentioned that he hasn’t read any since he was little and wants to get back into them. I’ve no clue where to start. He’s not into the classic stuff like superman /batman..unless its something really modern) I know he likes stuff like Sin City and Watchment.
