Is it normal to feel nervous about getting my braces off?

Asked by ducky_dnl (5384points) May 22nd, 2010

I’m getting my braces off at noon today, and I am so nervous. It’s like I’m actually scared to go in. I’ve been to this doctor nearly 19 times, but today I feel nervous. Did anyone else feel this way when getting their braces off? I’m happy that they are coming off, but a little saddened by it too. lol! Help? :)

I am sure you are just nervous because you’ll be more prettier without them I am sure you are pretty with them too. It’s maybe just because you are now used to them and you feel anxious:D

I was nervous too- and it does feel really weird having them taken off, and the glue taken off your teeth. But I can assure you, it is SO SO worth it. And your teeth feel so awesome afterwards, so slimey and smooth :P
It is normal to be nervous, but seriously, it doesn’t hurt much at all, more just a weird feeling. Good luck, hope you’re happy with the results!

Nervous is not the proper word, it should be excited. i hope you have a before picture, so you can now take an after picture for comparison. its been a long wait for you and you should be EXCITED…..........not nervous.

Todays your day…...congratulations.

I think it is normal to be saddened and have a slight attachment to your braces. However, there is nothing to be nervous about. The procedure isn’t all that bad. Congratulations!

If you feel nervous, just feel nervous. It will be fine. Try not to always wonder if every feeling you have is normal. It’s part of being a teen.
