Well, what topics are up at your school? Dress code issues? Freedom of speech for students? School prayer? The prom that was canceled so the lesbian couple could not go?

Write an editorial about an issue that people at your school are talking about.

Writer’s block?

How about the proposed mosque at ground zero?? :-/

Government secrecy about the UFO phenomenon.

At my school, one of the editors of the newspaper wrote an editorial about high school drinking and how parents were making it easy for students to obtain alcohol. The school took action and started a program teaching students not to encourage underage drinking, just because of that article.

Do something that you think is important to your community. You might just get a big response from your readers.

If you’re in journalism school and you have to ask others for “what should I write about” (at least you’re not asking us what opinions to take), then may I suggest that you aren’t long for journalism?

What do you feel strongly in favor of / opposed to? What’s going on outside that you like or don’t like? Did anything funny or sad happen to you recently? What do you think about local and national political issues? Do you live near the Gulf of Mexico and have any thoughts about what’s happening there?

You really need to ask “what should I talk about?” Consider a new field of endeavor; seriously.

@CyanoticWasp I think she is in High School, so it is either an elective, or part of her English curriculum most likely, I don’t think it was a career choice.

Bullying seems to be a huge topic now. I think that would be a good topic to address.

@JLeslie Yeah i dont plan it to make it a carrer. But I am a good writer though.
