What is the point of receiving awards, if you don't receive points for them?

Asked by lloydbird (8740points) May 31st, 2010

I mean, I get a point just for logging on two days in a row, yet I receive nothing for doing the same for ten days, or even thirty, so what is the point of these awards that we receive? More to the point, where are the points?

The points don’t matter, like a microphone at a Britney Spears concert.

Lurve isn’t worth anything anyway. So why are you in a rush to collect it?
Most of the awards are based on lurve in one way or another anyhow. So getting lurve for getting awards seems cyclical.
Just counted. 27 of the 40 awards are based on lurve.

The point is just to brighten your day. :)

We do it for the lulz.

We don’t want a setup where people just game the system to collect hundreds of thousands of points; thousands of Q’s and A’s for no purpose other than giving and getting points. I was a refugee from such a “garbage bag” site. To me, the policies on Fluther are intended to prevent such a thing from happening here. Same thing for the fluther size limitation, this isn’t an “assbook” (thank gawd).

Every time I get an award I make a button with things like, “I’m a starfish!”
That’s ‘cause I got flair.

Points don’t matter, like shampoo in Patrick Stewart’s shower.

No point.

Because you already received the points… then you get the award. *edit: Actually, this doesn’t make any sense unless you get an award for points. It’s too early in the morning for Fluther. Either that or I need coffee.

The awards are rather cute, in and of themselves. Now it I can only figure out that last “Atlantis” puzzler… :^D
