Asked by rentluva5256 (555points) May 31st, 2010

You’ve probably heard this question many many times. But I need help dealing with stress. I’m going through some pretty stressful times right now and I just need to know how to tough it out till it’s over. Please help.

alcohol at weekends
early nights with books and a hot water bottle
breathing..very very deeply
talking to your best friend
or just talking if they’re not available
exercise if you’re not injured
painting – it’s like sleeping; awake
crying with complete abandonment
watching a desperately sad film
tea
and of course, your favorite food

I smash stuff occasionally. Buy a box of cheap dishes at a Goodwill and smash away.

Eat healthfully. Get plenty of sleep. Exercise. Spend time with loved ones.

Those are the very things that help manage stress. Of course, they’re also the first things to go when one’s going through stressful times.

Go out in the woods. find a dead tree. use a baseball bat and beat the crap out of it.

Works for me.

Exercise will help you deal with stress. If you can make yourself get a good workout every day, you will find you will be in better shape than you could imagine, and you will be better able to cope with whatever you have going on.

Good luck to you.

If I let myself get worked up into a stressful state, I usually find that going for a walk helps.
Talking with friends – sometimes I find not taking about the source of the stress is far more helpful than over-talking/re-visitng the stress.
Meditation, Music and good old fashioned fun also help

I blast inanimate objects at the shooting range. Plastic milk jugs filled with water explode in a very satisfying way.

I take a long, hot shower and think. If my best friend is available, I call her or go on fb and see if she’s on. Talking things out with her helps me sooo much (and she knows she can do the same whenever she needs to. One hand washes massages the other.). Everything people said here would help, probably (I say probably because I don’t think being destructive would help, but to each his own).

Sometimes all it takes is a good cry. Lock yourself in a room and just let it all out. You will see you will start to feel better.

If it is work related stress, then try taking a deep breath and assess your project. Everything can be broken into smaller goals. Try to create small tasks that will eventually accomplish the overall big picture.

Or I listen to reggae lol.
