Why are my e-mailed files all coming in as zipped?

Asked by Taciturnu (6045points) June 5th, 2010

Whenever anyone attaches a file to my gmail account, it’s compressed and zipped. When I unzip it, the folder appears empty. Why is this? What can I do to resolve it?

It appears that you don’t have the software downloaded to read your zip files…like Aladin, perhaps. You don’t say what operating system you are using. I’m a mac user.

@MissA I have windows vista, and have the same programs as the people who are sending me e-mails- I can send them just fine. Receiving through gmail, however, is a completely different story. I opened an e-mail account with yahoo to receive them, and they come through normally. It’s not my preference to do that forever, though! :)

I’ve never encountered that problem. I would contact the gmail folks. It may be something there. That’d be my start. Good luck.
