Good folk bands/songs with fast 2/4 rhythm?

Asked by mirifique (1540points) June 14th, 2010

Looking for songs/bands akin to Dave Matthew’s “Two Step”, so, in 2/4, and sort of folk or bluegrass-ish. Looking for a good place to start.

Foggy Mountain Breakdown
Dueling Banjos
Man of Constant Sorrow (as performed in O Brother, Where Art Thou?)

Any bluegrass band plays in 2/4 or ¾. I play bluegrass and have albums from about 40 different people. Right now my favorite album is Ricky Skaggs “Bluegrass Rules!”

I’m musically illiterate, but these might work

16 Horsepower
Slim Cessna’s Auto Club
Curtis Eller

I am no musical genius, but aren’t most rockabilly tunes in 2/4?
Mystery Train is a great tune.

Sticking with Folk songs, try Freight Train

Nine Pound Hammer

(Excuse the 30 sec. intro, it’s worth the wait IMO)
