Dont sit or lay down – just keep walking. You should see an improvement almost immediately.

Do you have a desk job where you sit in front of a computer all day? If so, ask your HR department (if you have one) to do an ergonomic assessment of your set up. Humans aren’t meant to sit for 8 hours a day and it can cause all types of problems with hips, back, neck, arms, etc. If this might be the source of your troubles, you can try buying one of those yoga/pilates balls instead of a chair for your desk. That helps you to constantly shift your weight and your balance and the small motions might help loosen up your hips.
