How do I change the properties of this file?

Asked by Draconess25 (4461points) June 15th, 2010

I downloaded a song, & some (okay, a lot) of the information (genre, artist, title….) is incorrect.

I went to the file’s properties & changed them, but the changes didn’t save. Am I doing it wrong, or is there something wrong with the file?

It’s a trivial thing, but wrong information annoys the hell out of me!

PC?

Right click on the file and make sure the [Read-only] box is not checked. That’s probably not going to fix it, but you need to do that first to make sure.

You probably have a file that is named .mp3 but is actually some other compression form. Apps will still play it, but editing metadata won’t work because it’s stored differently.

I think the best thing is to download Media Monkey (just use the free version) and it will allow you to edit all forms/combos.

Try a program called Tag & Rename. It allows you to edit all metadata including artwork.

@ipso I think that might be it! I didn’t know what it was for, so I left it checked. I’ll go see if it works!
@dpworkin I’ll try to figure out what you’re talking about.
