What happened to the "cake at work" question?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) June 16th, 2010

That was a fun question, it was up all day, and now it is down for editing. What happened to it? I admit it, I was enjoying that question and all the different approaches to solving the problem.

It went AWOL. Said it wanted to go dancing.

Ran outta ice cream, went to the store.

Ran off with the “I love him and have changed so much for him…” question that had many great answers and was inexplicably pulled.

This is getting stupid.

chyna's avatar

@janbb What? That one is gone too? WTF??? That one had a huge number of answers.

janbb's avatar

Yeah – I’m actually rather pissed off about it. I thought we were all having a somewhat heated, but civil discussion with a lot of good posts and haven’t a clue as to why it was pulled.

chyna's avatar

So why put any effort in answering questions?

janbb's avatar

I was thinking of suggesting that maybe when a question is pulled after receiving a certain number of answers, a reason should be posted for the pulling. Whaddaya think?

chyna's avatar

Yeah, at the very least. If the poster asked for it to be pulled, I guess I can understand, but, yes, I want to know.

It’s awaiting the asker to decide whether they want it in the social section or the off topic responses removed.

zenele's avatar

I think it went the way of my Chinglish question. Which apparently offended someone.

augustlan's avatar

@zenele Nope. The cake at work question was entirely non-offensive. It just attracted a lot of funny non-answers and chit-chat. So we sent it back to the asker. He gets to decide whether to re-post it in General and have us remove those responses or move it to Social and let them stay. It’s in his hands, now.

shpadoinkle_sue's avatar

I never saw it. Someone mind posting on here if they find it again? Please?

zenele's avatar

@augustlan I didn’t bother reworking the Chinglish question – but it has been discussed here before. Those signs are just a part of life – and I don’t they are that offensive. I just didn’t feel like fighting it. Did you see how many posts there were? How many there have been in the past?

I may be wrong. Maybe it is offensive.

someone left the cake out in the rain

I don’t think that I can take it
@jazmina88 that made me laugh out loud.

and I’ll never see that question again…

“So why put any effort in answering questions?”

I think questions should be answered with questions.

SuperMouse's avatar

@andrew I like that the asker gets the choice of moving it or removing the off-topic answers. I think that is a fabulous policy! I also appreciate that you and @augustlan took the time to respond here. This question was kind of tongue in cheek, I asked it mostly because I found the cake at work question quirky and kind of funny.

@jazmina88 I lurve your response!

augustlan's avatar

I’m so frustrated… the asker hasn’t done anything with the question yet. It was a fun question, and I kind of wish I could just move it to Social. (We can do that, but we don’t… we want you all to have that power.)

envidula61's avatar

Out of curiosity, @augustlan. If you get no answer, say, within a month, what will you do?

augustlan's avatar

@envidula61 Nothing. It just stays out there, floating around in the ocean. :(

envidula61's avatar

Maybe it likes the gentle rolling of the waves!

Ewwww. Soggy cake!

zenele's avatar

@augustlan At least freeze the cake til the OP gets around to it.
