Have you seen the movie, The Fourth Sense? What did you think?

Asked by silverfly (4055points) June 22nd, 2010

I watched the Fourth Sense last night right before bed unfortunately. I thought there were some pretty upsetting parts, but I still think it was made into a movie for typical entertainment as a horror film. If the intention was to truly provide accurate representations of people’s encounters with extraterrestrial life, I think it should have been done in a documentary format.

Do you think that these events are real? Do you think these people were actually abducted by aliens? Or do you think that maybe these people were a little crazy? I need some closure so I can sleep tonight. :)

Do you mean The Fourth Kind?

I’ll just post to my blog post on it rather than write about it again lol

Nut jobs. Relax, you’re safe.

@poofandmook Yeah. I need to edit the question. Thanks!

Too late. I can’t edit. But yes, I did mean the Fourth Kind. I’m already trying to forget it! :)

@silverfly: Whether it’s real or not… we don’t live in Alaska, so that’s good :) lol

@poofandmook Yeah. I honestly think it was a group of really disturbed people. Kind of “easy” to kill your family and blame it on aliens. Dr. Tyler wasn’t so healthy herself by any means. She may be passionate, but I think she’s real far out there.

If the producers were trying to make it real, they shouldn’t have gone with typical hollywood scare tactics: scary music, scary “monsters under my bed” kind of theme, a specific time at night, etc. That’s my strongest argument for the movie’s validity.

I didn’t like it and it didn’t do anything to me. Communion weirded me out more. And nothing about that movie is true, except maybe some research in abduction cases. Everything else is purely made up.

silverfly's avatar

@mrentropy But how can you explain the “real” footage? Do you think it was edited to make the movie more scary?

mrentropy's avatar

@silverfly It wasn’t real footage. It was all filmed for the movie.

silverfly's avatar

@mrentropy Well that helps a lot. But now I feel duped.

I saw that movie, and I think it’s real. But if you check out the end of the movie, they say that the lady is in mental care now. That means she has no proof, and nobody believes her. But still it could have happened, maybe it did…

Ps.: sleep tight @silverfly! :)

Here’s a CNN article about it.

Here’s the wikipedia link even stating that it’s pure fiction: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourth_Kind

My dad told me about this movie, and he also thought it was real. He thought the “real” footage was, well, real, and that the rest of the movie was based on factual events. Just his description freaked me out, so I looked it up (thank you Google) and felt much better when I found out it was all fiction, all of it made with actors.

@MissAusten Just goes to show you that you can’t trust many people these days ESPECIALLY the ones in hollywood. :) I should’ve known the minute they had Milla Jovavich say that these were real events while the camera spun around her dramatically. Ugh, so lame.

well, it freaked me out anyway.
