How can I fix my wordpress template when it will not give me access to the blog or admin?

Asked by Dog (25152points) June 22nd, 2010

If one cannot access the admin because they messed up a template for their Wordpress how do they manually change it to an uncorrupted template via the hosting?

Or how does one fix the string that they ruined?

Here is the error that I am getting:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ’)’ in /home/content/n/e/r/nerocorvo/html/wp-content/themes/takteek01/controlpanel.php on line 14

log in to the server and manually edit controlpanel.php and fix the error on line 14.

if you don’t have the appropriate knowledge to log on to the server and manually edit this file, you need to contact the hosting company and request they help you. This may or many not cost you money.

Thanks MrItty!

I am savvy enough to go in but was not quite brilliant enough to cure the code.

The cure came by simply deleting the template file on the server then logging on with the
http://myblogurl.xxx/wp-admin and changing the template to a viable one.

Thanks! :D
