Where can I get rid of several broken Roomba floor cleaning robots?

Asked by kelly (1918points) June 23rd, 2010

I have several used non-working iRobot Roomba floor cleaning units with chargers, extra brushes, extra accessories. I hate to toss in trash. Is there a place to give them away? Should I try to sell on Ebay or such? There are good parts, components, etc that someone should be able to use, but I have no clue on how to find these folks.

You could post a listed on Craig’s List or Ebay if you wanted to sell them for parts. You could also list them for free on Craig’s List or you could check to see if there is a Freecycle Network in your area.

If there is a local store where you live that fixes vacuums and alike, they might be able to use the parts. You may not get much for them, maybe nothing, but at least it would go to good use for someone.

Thanks for ideas, I will try Craigs or Freecycle network.

I don’t know why my post was taken down. I think it was a fine question to ask how you have several broken Roombas?

I was into gadgets.

Just wanted to add my two cents. I had a broken Roomba as well and I did some homework and was able to repair it. So instead of recycing it/donating it/ or throwing it away, you can try and repair it yourself. For small bugs and “clicking noises” there are easy fixes. For something like the common 9-beep error, you can buy a repair kit online. And if the battery life is short, you can buy a replacement battery from Amazon The site which I use for reference and who I emailed quite a bit for technical support and roomba advice was eesolutions.ca. Having said all this, and reading what other posters have posted, Please do not throw your Roomba out.
