How do porcupines have sex?
I was just wondering because they are really prickly. Do they hurt each other?
do they mount, lay eggs, or like belly to belly?
Can they retract their spikes?
Do they just magically reproduce?

They have an oestrus, the female presents in lordosis when she is receptive, the male enters from the rear. I don’t know how prolific they are.
I don’t know of any animals which use birth control naturally.
That’s something imposed upon them by humans.

Domestic turkeys have birth control. The males breast is too big to allow him to mount the female. All domestic turkeys are artificially inseminated.

Whitetail deer also have a form of birth control. The mother starts into winter with two embryos typically. If the winter is harsh, she reabsorbs one of the embryos to increase the chance of having the healthiest offspring. I’ve seen a lot of single fawns this year.
I’d imagine the male would feel the same way a human male would after having sex with a female wearing one of these.
