Where should I take my girlfriend for our anniversary?

Asked by Drcpb (149points) June 23rd, 2010

Well, my girlfriend and I will have been going out for two years next month, and I’m at a total loss as to where I should take her. I thought about out to eat, but we’ve been to about every place in town. I’m thinking about maybe going to the nearby city of Memphis, TN to take her to the zoo, as well as a nicer restaurant. Do you guys think that this would be a good idea? If anyone knows of good restaurants in Memphis to take a date, it’d be cool.

I don’t know if movies or anything like that would be a great idea, as we don’t agree on movies. She likes things that are made for dates, and I… don’t.

Signed.

If I were going to Memphis, I’d try to hear some really good music.

The zoo sounds kind of unusual and interesting. If she’s got an interest in animals I say go for it. Can’t help you with the locale cuisine, though.

A evening ferry ride, indoor rock climbing, dinner on a ferry, take a creative course together, like cooking (so you both don’t have to go out so much for dinner) a dance class. The last two are fun because it can be something that will bring you closer together.

Take her on a picnic!

I live in Memphis and would be glad to provide some recommendations. More information would be helpful.

*How much time do you plan to spend here? Overnight, or just in the day?
*How much $ would you be willing to spend for a romantic dinner?
*Are you both quirky? I could make up a list of off-the-traditional-tourist-list things to do.

I I can’t bear to see the animals in cages, that’s my thing. (re: zoo).

Anyway…what I think you should do is take her to a really romantic restaurant like Erling Jensen’s or Paulette’s or Chez Phillipe’s. Save room for dessert. Then, take her for a carriage ride (Carriage Rides of Memphis) through the downtown and then take her home (if you don’t want to spring for a hotel) where you have chilled some champagne and made the bed , put some candles out, etc.

If your girlfriend likes romantic movies….“movies made for dates” as you called them…then do something romantic for her. She will appreciate it.

Rendezvous or Justine’s! If you go to Justine’s, carry LOTS of money!

My pick…love the Rendezvous!

Hey, they have a great zoo there…it will be fun!

I lived in Memphis for 10 years…good luck!

Take her to a nearby lake and rent a rowboat. Have a gourmet picnic that you prepared for her to share with you in the boat. That’s romantic!

Hey, do you live in the central part of the state?

If she is an Elvis fan, take her to Graceland.

Make it mutual, both of you decide what would make a memorable anniversary.

I went to a nightclub in Memphis owned by BB King. Just walk in for a beer, and there he is on stage.
Very cool.

@filmfann Love BB…in the 70’s went to a concern at the old Mid South Coliseum and BB, Bobby Blue Bland, and one more great musician was there..cannot think of his name! Wow…it was wild! I was real young at the time, single, and a friend asked me to go…she put a couple of pints of good strong whiskey in her purse…we did have a good time!
