Drink warm water or stick your tongue up to the roof of your mouth to rewarm the chilly blood vessels in your mouth!! BF’s suck big time!!

They only last like six seconds. Step up and take it like a man.

@Symbeline LOL. That was the longest 6 seconds ever.

Oww, Oww, Oww, just thinking about it hurts. I hate when that happens.
Take a series of quick, sharp breaths, or as some people advise – laugh.
Place your tongue on the roof of your mouth.
Count to 100 – this will help as a distraction technique and by the time you are done, it will be gone.

Brain freezes are caused by cold vessels on the roof of your mouth (like @Cruiser said). I always use the thumb on roof of mouth method. The warmth from my thumb heats up the vessels again and the brain freeze goes away. Try that next time.

Cruiser has the correct answer. Drink some warm water from the tap. It goes away immediately.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Now I feel properly armed for my next brain freeze. That has to be one of the worst feelings in the world, short lived as it may be. ;)

Note to myself:

Bring kitchen sink when out and about.

My wife always breaths deeply through her mouth. She says it always works.

@ChazMaz I once ordered a Margarita and a pot of hot water for tea, just because I knew it was going to happen.

Yes, its one of those things, you know is going to happen. And, no matter how you try to avoid it. It gets you. :-)
