Are song remakes the future of America's music?

I have just listened to a remake tribute album to Hall and Oates, by The Birds and The Bee. actually, this is not a bad remake of their music. is this the future of America’s music….....remakes? its apparently too difficult for songwriters to write better songs, than those of the 60s, 70s and early 80s. Question: will remake songs ever be as good as the original and can you give some examples?
