What is a good going away gift for my manager?

Asked by ItalianPrincess1217 (11979points) June 30th, 2010 from iPhone

One of my absolute favorite managers informed us that this week would be her last. She’s been promoted but has to move to another location. There has been talk of me filling her position, which is great news for me. But I’m
still sad to see her go. I want to get her a little something but can’t think of anything. I have only 2 days left to find something. Keep in mind I work at the Bon Ton so I have a lot of things available (at a discount). Any cute ideas?

Do you have any favorite customers or very memorable customers or events? I left a job and the most memorable mementos I got were handmade little things that represented those events, customs, or customers that really stood out for some reason or another. I still have them and they still make me smile.

What about a little case for business cards? Or have everyone go in and get her a new briefcase.

Keep it simple. find a cute singing goodybe card that fits the occasion. inside the card, leave your name and email address. this way, both of you can keep in contact with each other.

A specail gift does not have to be expensive. its the thought that counts and she will remember you forever.

I always loved the kind words said in the cards I received from my staff when I left a position. I still have some of those cards in a shoe box. I did receive gifts sometimes, but I cannot for life of me remember the gifts, just the cards. Does she have a favorite candy, or does she love Starbucks and you can get her a giftcard maybe? If everyone will contribute you could get a more fabulous gift as someone suggested above. That is what I would prefer, something from the group, unless the group is not wanting to contribute.
