I think you’re describing buffering, and it’s because the video is playing faster than your computer is downloading it. It’s pretty common. The best solution is a faster internet connection.

I have that problem with Firefox, so I use IE for youtube etc.

IE=Internet Explorer. A web browser. If you click on a blue “e” to get to the internet, you’re using Internet Explorer.

It starts and stops because it’s buffering. It needs to download the video from the internet. Most video websites will show you how much is buffered, by having a different colored section on the progress bar (Like for youtube, unbuffered is white, if it’s buffered, it’s a light red. And the sections you’ve already watched are the dark red).
To avoid all that stopping and starting, don’t bother watching the video until you see it’s fully loaded.

@Dutchess_III The word for people who are clueless on line is “ignornet”.

@Dutchess_III I don’t think it has a spell check. But that’s okay, because it’s really not a browser people should be using.
Really, any other browser (Chrome, firefox, safari, opera) is preferable to it.

You can update your Flash player through this website.

Yes, sometimes but not always. I won’t try to watch when it’s like that.

Could also be that you have too many programs open at the same time or that the cpu is getting a bit hot.
That’s the reason that my videos are freezing every now and then, and why i have a fan pointed at my laptop.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@Sarcasm Why? Why is everything else preferable to Explorer?

@rebbel Yeah, no. That’s not it. Part of it is, I know, not enough memory or whatever. Part of it.

@Dutchess_III Explorer takes a lot of system resources and isn’t very fast in return. It also tends to be less secure than other browsers and isn’t as customizable. For instance, in Firefox I have the option to block advertising online if and when I choose- that’s not an option in Explorer.

YES! That’s why i won’t bother watching any videos unless i think it’ll be REALLY interesting.

@Dutchess_III – hey….i like your avatar. ;)

:) I like yours too, @NaturallyMe!
@gemiwing…. Does Explorer use the memory if I just down load it and never use it except to watch video?
