Should citrus be kept in the refrigerator or at room temperature?

do citrus fruits actually ripen or sweeten in refrig or on the counter

Since they leave it out at the supermarket, I usually leave it out at home. Unless it isn't eaten in a few days--then into the fridge.

I actually fridge it. I live in a very humid city so if I do not want it to mold.. it goes in the fridge.
