What kind of Cherry Bomb Glasspack should I get for my truck?

Asked by Jeremycw1 (1370points) July 12th, 2010

I want to get an exhaust that sounds cool for my truck (a 2001 Ford Ranger 4.0 L 4×4) and I have decided on the classic glasspack. I looked into getting one, but there are tons of different sizes. What size do I need for my truck?

(and would you recommend something other than a glasspack?)

Check the size of your current muffler, and get one with the same internal and external pipe size. The closer it matches your current muffler, the less work you have to do to get it to fit.

Lame with the phony pipes. Trick out the truck with 4–6 Pile Driver speakers and a 1000 watts of power and blast out the town with AC/DC or Ted Nugent on 11!

When you say “cool,” what, exactly, do you mean? In my opinion, the coolest muffler would be the quietest one. That way you can sneak up on people standing there, and all of a sudden they see this huge shadow over them and they turn around, and there you are! I’ve got a SUV that does that. I’m just quietly following—maybe ten feet back—one of those idiots who walks down the middle of the street. God! You should see the looks on their faces and the way they nearly leap to the side of the road when they realize I’m there. Yup. Quiet is the coolest!

@WestRiverrat that makes sense, thanks :)

@Cruiser I already have 2 Focal speakers and an alpine amp, it breaks a few sound ordinances =P time to move on to the next stage lol

@wundayatta that might be helpful sometimes haha but i want people to know i’m coming from blocks away haha

@Jeremycw1 Oh well. Can’t help you there.

Buy a cheap one, so you will have some money left over, to pay your loud muffler citation.

For Cherry Bombs, I would use the longest possible because, otherwise, they are just too loud. I always used a long blue glasspack (the name of which escapes me now) for a quieter, meaner, not as offensive sound. People will still hear you coming, but only really when you’ve got your foot in it.
