What not to miss at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo?

Asked by WestRiverrat (20117points) July 13th, 2010

I will have an afternoon to kill in Omaha, Ne in the near future.

I have heard a lot about the Henry Doorly Zoo. I have heard it rivals the San Diego zoo and you need a full day or more to see it all.

I will have about 4 hours. What should I see first?

I think you should try the ones you’ve never seen before, say, you read a sign saying ‘sarcastic fringe head’ and you have no idea what the fish looks like. Go for it! Take a look at them. That’s something you won’t back in town or any other zoo. Also, my favorite part being at the zoo is seeing rare animals or endangered species. Some zoos have very rare animals no other ones do. Even though its a shame the species is running out, a least you know more about the kind and that maybe enough to help raise awareness. Hope you have a blast on your visit, and say hi to the penguins for me!

Make sure to ride the sky-lift. Its a ski lift that goes over the whole zoo, so you can see it all from above!
