I need help formatting a stupid word 2003 document.

Asked by mowens (8403points) July 20th, 2010

Greetings fellow jellies. As I write to you, I am a flustered Flutherer. I am not flustered at Fluther. I just happen to be one who Fluthers that is flustered.

I am revamping my resume, because it needs it. I have a header on the first page, with my name, address, and all the information that you would normally find on the header of a resume. I do not want the header on the pages that follow. I managed to remove the text from the other pages, but the header itself remains. My resume is now 4 pages long, because word 2003 refuses to utilize half of every page. I do not want this. Does anyone know how to remove the headers on the other pages? I would even settle for changing the size allocated for all the headers.

Any help will get you a handsome payment in lurve.

Oh , that’s maddening! I have been through this. I have Word 2007 (gah!) in front of me, they changed everything around, so these are only vague directions. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable chimes in or you figure it out quickly:

Double-click on the 2nd page header, so you are editing the header.
Somewhere there is an option like “Same as Previous” (Right-click maybe? Formatting menu?)

Disable “Same as Previous” .

@jaytkay is right about header. And if header and footer seem to take up too much space, enter them by double clicking and remove any extra returns [even if there is no text in footer there may be returns. Remove any returns in your second page header.
Check your margins, paragraph settings [should not have any indents except, if you want it, first line indent].

There are no paragraphs in them. :( Am I doomed?

Under Options, check the “Different first page” box. And then don’t type anything in those other headers. Does that work?

The header remains on the first page, but it still takes all the space on the other pages. If I hit cntrl +shift + 8 it shows the P where paragraphs are. There is nothing in the other headers.

Is the first page header different from the later pages?

I know how to do this. Is there someplace where you can post your paper and I can pick it up?

mowens's avatar

Yes, he first header has my name and such, the rest are blank.

Private message me your email?

Sent. Thank you much. :)

You can always specify no headers and create that header info in the doc.
When you started to work on this did you clear all formatting?

I got it. Thank you all!!!!
