Is there a color code to the lights on a fire station?

Asked by quibblet (67points) July 26th, 2010

On some nights, I’ll see certain lights on a fire station. One is red, the other blue. What is their purpose?

In northern Illinois, Chicago area the fire stations light a red and green light. I was told the red stands for first aid and the green that the station is open. I don’t know about blue light.

Call or stop in and ask. Firemen are friendly and like to help people.
