Why does the media show the bad and not the good?

Asked by brice0825 (36points) March 21st, 2008 from iPhone

Why does the media show the bad and not the good often in places like Iraq . My dad went to Iraq in the national guard for 2 years. He knows what it was like over there and the good that they are doing, yet the media shows mostly the bad stuff?

Because the bad stuff sells newspapers and gets people to watch commercials.

I agree with cwilbur.

well many people should think for themselves about stuff like the war in Iraq instead of leting some one else and blaiming it on the president?

Maybe you can find a creative way to get the media to show more of the good stuff that you know about.

to add to cwilbur’s comment; the phrase, ‘if it bleeds, it leads’

Yep, and the bad stuff is more interesting to some people, and they think the good stuff is boring.

A simple equation…

Media=Liberal (-Fox News).
Liberals=power thirsty.

Therefore.

Media makes conservatives look bad so Liberals can get power.

I guarantee you a Dem. will win in 2008.

It’s really that simple.

I hope they don’t… Also what you said tonight in Men’s group was eye opening. Thanks tim.

Here’s a great example of how the media can negate a really good piece of news. Forty-eight hours after the oil stopped flowing in the blown-out Gulf well, here’s how AP spun the headline/story:

THE GULF WAITS: OIL IS PLUGGED – BUT FOR HOW LONG?

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – The Gulf Coast found itself in an odd moment of limbo Saturday: The oil has been stopped, but no one knows if it’s corked for good.
