Why is it important to stay out of the sun while using acne meds?

it makes your skin sensitive! it’s the same stuff in retin a, which makes the cells come to the surface quicker, and the top skin slough off- use lots of sunscreen- my daughter uses this and her skin got really sensitive on a boating trip

I never use it on my face with or with out acne meds.. And I never have had an issue

Is it tetracycline? It depends what meds you are taking about. If it is tetracycline stay out of the sun as directed. You don’t have to be obsessive about it, but reasonable measures are a good idea.
