I come up with tons of really great ideas.

If only I could bring them to fruition.

Appear aloof. But that’s because i don’t allow things that i don’t consider important to bother me. My family can’t believe that i can be so calm and seemingly “uncaring” in some annoying situations.
Also, i seem to be able to procrastinate important matters effortlessly. I wish i was NOT able to do this one.

Take standardized tests. Make food taste delicious.

In thinking about the second part of your question, I decided probably not. I wish I could run faster, I wish I could get more done at work—but the effort expended getting better at these things is kind of the whole point. If I could do them effortlessly, they wouldn’t be as valuable.

I really can’t think of something that I do effortlessly. Even the things that I am good at, I have to concentrate on. Maybe that’s because I am a bit too much of a perfectionist. There are plenty of things that I wish I did do effortlessly.

No. Even the things I do best—especially the things I do best—require sometimes great effort. For example, I’ve been writing professionally and privately since I was 10 years old, yet I still get a little freaked at the sight of a blank screen or piece of paper. And the process that follows, getting that poem or short story or piece of Web content and even this comment down right, is often long and laborious (albeit rewarding). Someone once told me, if it’s easy for you to write, you’re not a writer. Oh, and writing is one of the things I do best. You should see me try to cook!

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

I can throw pottery with minimal effort.I wish I could lift huge amounts of weight effortlessly ;)

I can play guitar and cook quite well and I wish I could ride a unicycle effortlessly while playing my kazoo. I have always wanted to lead a parade that way wearing my purple bedazzled overalls!

I wish I could write effortlessly. Right now I only talk effortlessly.

@Cruiser Thanks for the image.

partyparty's avatar

@Cruiser Oh please, please, please let us see a photo of those purple overalls :-)

Austinlad's avatar

@papayalily, writing often and well is far, far more important than writing effortlessly. Trust me on this.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Austinlad I did mean writing well. Not just the ability to string letters together into words, but the ability to make those words turn into sentences that are coherent and communicate effectively.

Austinlad's avatar

@papayalily, I understand completely. I was making a general observation about writing (and when I say writing, I automatically mean well-crafted writing) rather than your writing. Sorry if it seemed like a dig.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Austinlad I didn’t take it as a dig, I just meant that we are on the same page. Because… I go on that exact same rant all. the. time. Bloggers wanting to be taken seriously as journalists but then exploding with rage every time someone dares to tell them that they misspelled a word, because serious journalists are more concerned with vast quantity than any kind of quality…. It’s a whole thing with me.

Cruiser's avatar

@partyparty Here they are in the garden before I pimped them out!! I have applied for the Labor Day parade and you will have to wait till then for the after shot!—;))

partyparty's avatar

@Cruiser I am waiting :-))))))))

@Cruiser—you might enjoy this picture of a guy on a unicycle wearing nothing but paint.

Hmm…well….let’s see I…. no….....hmm…..maybe wait no…....oh I procrastinate rather effortlessly. But really tho, I can put something off for as long as it takes to never think about it again.

Cruiser's avatar

@YARNLADY That looks painful! I was never aware I was hurting the “boys” that much in that way!! X0
