Matching sister tattoos?

Asked by andie_fall4you (9points) August 5th, 2010

My sister and I would love to get tattoos for when I turn 18 in a few months. I know we should really figure out something for ourselves but I just want some ideas and my sister and I will go from there, probably adding on or taking off some of the ideas.
Info: My sister is 6 years older then me but we are very close and she acts like she is my age. Right now she lives in Florida and I live in Minnesota. My sister and I are quite different, we don’t have a lot in common but that is what kind of makes it fun but harder to choose for a tattoo right? Any other questions just ask.

I do like when people get tattoos together that signify their relationship. There are a lot of cool things you can do with a double…something…perhaps two birds or two branches entwined or an excerpt from a poem you both like…this is really up to you.

haha too bad my sister doesn’t like to read or really doesn’t understand poems at all but maybe I’ll get that with my best friend or something. Thanks :)

I would probably go with something that had meaning to my sister (if I had one) and me. For example, if something happened when we were kids that was a secret between the two of us or a private joke between the two of us, I would probably get a tattoo of some kind related to that.

One of my friends got a tattoo of half a heart with half the word “sister” in it and her sister had the other half. They had them on their feet and when the stood next to each other bare footed, the two halves lined up to make one heart.

Believe it or not, there are meaningful tattoos and symbols that represent sisterhood. The famous native American symbol of sisterhood is – two crosses side-by-side with a small circle above them and this entire design encircled. This design of a cross and a small circle represents womanliness, female power and fertility with compassion. When these symbols are side-by-side, they represent a female bond – sisters!

I don’t think you should limit yourself to matching tats. If like you say you are very different, you should each get a tat that reflects your personality. You could keep to the same theme, but you don’t need them to match.

If you do that and have a falling out . Will you regret the tattoo.? Tattooes are for life. I would think about it more.
