Why doesn't Fluther make an iPhone App?

Asked by rawrgrr (1568points) August 6th, 2010

It would be very convenient when I’m on the go and with push notifications! Wouldn’t that be a good idea?

They had one. It sucked. I still have it but I very rarely use it. You can always make a web app but that sucks pretty bad too.

@Randy Hmm well they should make a new one! I’m sure lots of people would use Fluther a lot more on their phones.

Yes, it is a good idea, and we intend to do just that. :) We’ve just had a lot on our plates recently.

We all use i.fluther.com on our iPhones (and then add a bookmark to our homescreens). This is an iPhone version of the website, and works pretty well.

We’re still expanding our engineering team, and making a really sexy iPhone App (with push notifications, etc.) is definitely on the horizon.

Thanks for the suggestion!

And Android?

@ben Any hope for a button to turn off the mobile site?
It is good and all but some of us like to flag, and text boxes misbehave sometimes.

@Dog A little. You can get around it for now by removing the “i.” from the url on a page other than i.fluther.com. Annoying, yes. But a workaround.

@wundayatta Same for Android. Eventually a proper app, until then: i.fluther.com

@ben If it would let us do that it would rock (and it would be an easy fix) but sadly it redirects to the i.fluther rather obsessively.
