What is a turn on and turn off for you fluther?

Asked by Vincent_Lloyd (3007points) August 7th, 2010

okay simple question what is a turn on and turn off for you? It can be anything. It can be physical appearance or his or her personality. I don’t really care. But what are some turn offs and ons for everyone out there? Well I know I have some but I’ll name three of each here they are:

Turn on:Good personality,my definition of beautiful, (not saying anyone is ugly out there, promise you that.)trust worthy

Turn off: Annoying,keeps grudges,lies.

okay so those are only Three of each. I have more, but I don’t feel like writing them all down at the momento. So just to add I don’t really care for breast size like most men do. I;m just sayin’ but yes that’s it for the question. What are some turn on/offs?

Turn-off: People dissing other people for their opinions. (You know, like so much of the rest of the world.)

Turn-on: People showing respect for other’s opinions, even when they are the opposite of their own. (If only the rest of the world worked the same way.)

Turn on: Humor, insight, kindness, fantastic empathy and ability to see another person’s point of view.

Turn offs: Dismissing someone because of their politics, their spiritual beliefs or that they don’t agree with them 100 percent. That’s just demoralizing.

Regarding the latter….this is a problem in society as well. We are so divisive and with all that is happening in the world, on all levels right at this moment…we must put these differences aside and work for our common good. If we were all on a sinking ship (and some would say we might be)...in the end….do you think it would matter who we voted for? If we liked Palin or Pelosi? If we think Gore is a globalist or a god? If we are Republican or Democrat? Or Libertarian? Or Independent? If we were Mexican or Monrovian? A Blueblood or a Blue-Stater?

No…we would (hopefully) just keep passing the buckets and start bailing water.
That’s still my hope…it was my hope as a child and still is….that we one day understand that we really are all on the same ship…sailing in the same direction. That’s the only way we are going to make it through the coming years.

Oh my gosh, I’ve gotten the third degree treatment on that one my friend. Thank you for saying that.

@BoBo1946….You are welcome.

A true community is built on differing views…and mutual respect for the differences, I think. (I hope.)

Turn on is self confidence along with a physique to match which shows me they care enough about themselves to properly take care of their body. Doesn’t have to be a gym rat body, just fit and healthy is all. A sense of humor is huge as is a sense of style and a bit of flair and zest for life. That is called attitude…a sassy attitude is a major turn on for me. Loving the outdoors and simple quiet times is where it all comes together for me.

A major turn off is the opposite of any of the above and complaining about life or anything in your control is a major “see ya”!

Turn On: Serious questions in the Social category.

Turn off: Pious, long winded answers.

It’s funny; people have interpreted this two ways. What is RL is a turn-on/turn-off in people and what on Fluther is a turn-on/turn-off. The question was somewhat ambiguous.

Turn on: Intelligence. An intellectual girl is the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Turn off: Self-righteous hypocrites… especially those who tout their open-mindedness in one breath and then prove how closed minded they are in the next.

Turn On: compassion, wit, patience

Turn Off: extremists, change-the-world hypocrites, those who attack rather than opine.

Turn off: inconsiderate people (for example, today made a comment about my neighbor dying this morning….only 3 people commented on it…that is rude and inconsiderate) People that don’t reply to your comment when you direct at them….rude. While I’m venting, people who attack others because of the beliefs in religion. Had one person tell me..so, you believe in fairy tales…that is an asshole comment. And, people that have a high opinion of themselves. People who never, or almost never, give others some love/lurves! Lastly, cold hearted people. I’m though.

Turn ons: Nice people that care about others (not fake stuff..but, the real deal). Funny people that don’t take their opinion so serious.
