How can I feed a puppy in East Africa?

At the age of 32, I moved out to Tanzania East Africa to become a computer teacher-missionary. I’ve recently been given an 8 week old german shepherd puppy to raise but everything I’ve found out on the web says “just get puppy food.” My question is; what can I feed it as there is no puppy chow?
