Good lucid dreaming techniques?

Asked by fallengrace (67points) August 10th, 2010

Anyone got any that they have had good success with? Also does anyone know why when I relax and start to induce a lucid dream, and think with my sub conscious mind, do I start to itch and get flung back into my conscious mind again? What is with this random itching it’s so annoying?

Write down your dreams throughout the day. Ask am i dreaming and test it. Eventually you’ll ask while your seeping.

I don’t know why you itch ,but for years I often fought sharks and bears in my dreams.I finally told myself before I went to sleep that I would pummel to within an inch of their life ,the next thing that tried to get me….and I did.I don’t have trouble so much anymore.the white Ford van dream is a different story

yeah I know all those techniques, wondered if there were any more people had tried and how the got on. And the itching thing happens when im trying a technique. I start to relax my body and blank my mind and slowly let my body shut down and sleep while keeping my mind active but I always start to itch and all the relaxing and stuff goes out the window as I have to itch.

the key thing too remember, is its your brain, your in control.

Try my method, lye in bed, spread out your arm so the palms are touching the sheets (not necessary, but i find it helps), close your eyes, and imagine you bed swaying, eventually, you should have the sensation of the bed physically moving! it may take some practice, but its a great way too get yourself into the right state of mind, and is incredibly relaxing if you cant sleep.

I have some thoughts on the itching, I tried lots of OBE techniques when I was younger and whenever I would get to a particular stage it seemed like my nerves suddenly “lit up”. I think it has to do with the “ethereal” body becoming more awake and this involves lots of nerve activity, which is quite stimulating and may feel like itching, tingling, buzzing or any number of sensations. I felt them all. My problem was never being able to get out of the body. It was like I was perpetually stuck on the edge.

I did more OBE techniques than lucid dreaming. Although my biggest suggestion would be that, if you are dreaming and feel you are coming to awareness of dreaming, start running. Start running and then try to jump, then fly, just move!
