Are you on the brink of disaster or the cusp of greatness?

Are you on the cusp of greatness or the brink of disaster? Taking in account of the tale of Lonnie Johnson, the inventor of the Super Soaker, he was $600,000 in debt, marriage on the rocks, one would say the brink of disaster, then a toy company signs on to do the Super Soaker and the rest his history. He went from the out house to the penthouse; the brink of disaster to the cusp of greatness. At this point, where are you?

I am teetering inbetween. I could go either way any day now.

Personally I do not consider money or a windfall of money having anything at all to do with greatness. But if I am to apply your measuring stick to my life I am on the brink of both. Right now I am doing everything possible to tip the scales towards “greatness” and in 4 short months I will have done one or the other….stay tuned.

@Cruiser Right, it was an example of one man’s journey from one extreme to the other it just so happened one extreme lead to a boat lkoad of cash while the other pne was costing him a boat load. But money doen’t always come into the equasion. ;-)

@Hypocrisy_Central I figured that much and I am on a crash course with either!! Woooo HOOO!

Neither – thank G-d.

My life is a great disaster.

I have always been on the cusp of greatness, but that is one damned big cusp to get over, brinks are much easier to conquer.

marinelife's avatar

Neither. I am moving though the middle.

I believe the two are the same – there is no greater disaster than a life not lived fully.

Right now I’m completely on the verge of each.

ninahenry's avatar

@AC I agree, if you’re on one, you’re also on the other. Things could go to plan or they could not. The bigger the issue is, the more severe the consequences are each way. It’s a tightrope.

CMaz's avatar

I’m on the edge of an abyss.

AC's avatar

@ninahenry My thoughts exactly. Where I am right now is a real tightrope. If it works out my life will be better in an immeasurable way, if it doesn’t things could be pretty grim for a while, hence the cusp being inbetween the two.

I think I’m on the cusp of greatness. I will be graduating on Friday with my BSN. If things worked out as planned these next few months, my husband will be home and we will get pregnant. If things don’t work out, it won’t be a disaster, it will just mean things stay the same for a bit longer.

ninahenry's avatar

@Seaofclouds hmm, then I guess it’s more a ‘how much of a positive person you are’ deal considering that you wouldn’t see it as a disaster if your wish wasn’t fulfilled, as other people might. I guess I’m too sensitive.

Seaofclouds's avatar

@ninahenry I agree that it is a matter of perception. I think past experience has a lot to do with it as well. I lived in my car at one point, had to scrounge for change to get food, took showers at rest stops, and sometimes went days without food. That was a disaster. We already have a child and while we would like more, if it’s not meant to be then it’s not meant to be. Yes it would hurt, but it wouldn’t be a disaster in my opinion.

@Seaofclouds Fate is helpful if you’re not a greedy person. Well done for being strong.

CMaz's avatar

@Artistree – I always do. Landing on the edge of another abyss. ;-)

@ChazMaz bottomless ain’t it.

gailcalled's avatar

I am content to be at the median of the Bell curve with a very small standard deviation.

Austinlad's avatar

Isn’t life a tightwire walk between those two extremes?

downtide's avatar

In the middle of mediocrity. :-D

YARNLADY's avatar

No I put all that behind me long ago. I am on the sidelines watching the play unfold.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

Neither. I am living greatness.

Berserker's avatar

Like a zombie rising from the grave, I’ve faced much worse than now, but I’m quite far from greatness.

NaturallyMe's avatar

I’m in the middle somewhere, feeling that i’m leaning a little towards the cusp of greatness. :D

Dreamwright's avatar

Well now that you mention it, I’m going into college next week, so I’m definitely leaning very far toward one of them.
Problem is, I don’t know which one yet.
