Have you ever been looking for something and it was right under your nose?

Asked by BoBo1946 (15325points) August 12th, 2010

This morning was walking from my office to the house to get a glass of water. My office is about 50ft behind my house. I looked down and their was my glasses. One of the stims (is that spelled correctly…oh well) to my glasses had broken. Started looking for the stim, and looked, and looked, and “low and behold,” I had the glasses in my mouth when the stim broke. grrrr..

Does anyone know what the “here-after” disease is? Well, everytime I go in another room, I say to myself, “what am i here after!

Tell us a story about looking for something and it was “under your nose” the whole time. Please, make me feel better that I’m not the only one that does these kind of things.

My pants. And, I was wearing them. I’m not kidding. A few too many gin and tonics one warm, breezy summer night.

last winter there was a snow ban, so was required to move my vehicle for the night,
when this occurs- you must move your vehicle out of said spot by 7 am.

The next morning I looked and looked for my keys, and couldnt find them
lying under a piece of paper on a desk by the door for at least 15 minutes
.

At 7:02 I got to my car to find I’d been given a 50 dollar parking violation ticket at 7 :01.
awesome.

My car keys. They are usually in my pocket. Takes me 10 min. to figure that out.

Happens to me a lot in my office. I keep a fairly neat desk, but sometimes I’ll be looking for a document or some item like a microphone cable to no avail, even though it’s right there in front of me. At home, more often than not, it’s not that it’s in plain sight but that it’s slipped out of sight very nearby—like a remote stuck in the crevice of my sofa, or keys that have fallen behind the piece of furniture I laid them on.

This happens to me all the time. I’m as blind as a bat.

More times than I can count.

And, for the sake of tacking a story on to a short answer, when I was in high school I was in the art room after school and the art teacher started going nuts because she couldn’t find her keys. She asked me and another kid to retrace her steps and check some places to see if she left them there. We went all over the school, came back and said we didn’t find them. She starts waving her arms around frantically, wondering where she left. We pointed out that she had her key ring (with keys) on her finger.

Very recently, while on holiday, I took the car out to buy some groceries.
When I came out of the supermarket I couldn’t find the car anywhere. I searched around for about fifteen minutes, but still no luck.
Then I remembered we had bought a new car, only a few weeks earlier, and I was stood right next to it. (the other car was black, and the new one silver).
How embarrassing!! LOLL

@ partyparty That is not so bad I got into the wrong car once with a person in it at the grocery store. I said “is this what you wanted ?“Look up with the person looking at like I was nuts. I said “Oh! my this is not my car!.” Got out and got into mine . Looked at my husband who said “Um what was that? ” I turned beet red and laughed so hard. Who knew there would be two white bonnevilles in the parking lot? My husband teases me about that all the time. I have problem with my cell phone. I lose that all the time it is right in front of me half the time.

This one time I was in a hurry to go somewhere and I couldnt find my phone and i was looking for about 20 minutes, turns out it was in my hand the whole time. I felt really idiotic.

I frequently find my computer magnifying glasses on my head, after searching for them all over the house.
