Tumblr: How to use my own image as a background?

I am using the Astronaut theme.. peter vidani.. anyhow i see many blogs with themes i’ve used, but with their own personal touch. they put their own image in as the background. mine is currently white, i’d like to spice it up a bit. a little help? thank you (:

I will do this with images.

But that sucks. The content is hard to read with the image like that.

This looks even better. I still want to see a little of the background image to lets use opacity.
