Online storage place for music?

Asked by Gruz06 (811points) March 23rd, 2008

My friend is getting ready to reinstall Windows. She has almost 2GB’s of music on her computer. Is there an online storage site where she can upload her songs, and then download them when she is done reinstalling?

You could use something like box.net, but to be honest it’s probably easier for her to either use an external drive or burn some DVDs. You can get USB hard drives or flash drives very cheaply now, paying probably not much more than $25 for a drive that would support that much data and more.

Try Sugarsync. It was recently featured on lifehacker. They are currently in beta and are offering 10GB storage free for 45 days. After that it’s only like 4.95/mo. They have plans up to 250GB. It comes with a very nice interface and allows you to access your files from any web browser.

I agree with richardhenry…you’d be better off purchasing an external drive of some sort or burning a dvd. You can get an 80GB external drive at newegg.com for about $50. Most places online will require you to pay for storage. So, if you’re gonna pay for the service, why not buy a drive that you can carry around with you?

The time it would take to upload 2GB of music is likely to be measured in days, if not weeks. You can get an external thumb drive with 2G capacity for under $100 nowadays.

at 2gb you could also burn to DVD or even cd with less hassle than the online option.
