I do watch news sometimes, because I get to learn more of Icelandic, but now that I am in denmark and I don’t know a soul of the language I don’t!
I read newspapers and internet news as long as they are in English.
I am not a news junky, but I would say I am a Hollywood-gossip-junkie

Of course not, it’s all crap.

No. It’s fooey and it bores me and i don’t have time for such boringness and often bad news in my life.

Anywho! I do watch the last 2 minutes of it sometimes though, because that’s the time the weather forecast for the next day is on.

If I’m home I try to watch NBC nightly news with Brian Williams. I always keep up with our local news at either 6pm or 10pm, and sometimes I like to watch Shepard Smith on Fox (mainly for entertainment, he cracks me up).

The local Sunday newspaper is a staple in our house too.

No, I don’t watch the news at all, except for snippets I catch if I’m queued up somewhere near a TV. They all seem to have CNN on.

I prefer the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Network) news (unbiased, I find). Yes, I catch it at night. The Detroit news is always depressing, so, I steer clear.

You would never catch me watching Fox News.

I don’t watch any American news, but, I do watch the Rachel Maddow Show.

i am a news junky, so yes, but we have proper news channels here, except for Sky news which is a malicious stream of nastiness, delivered by soulless, blue-eyed devils.

Hardly watch tv news, i only read news papers, and then only the wednesday- and saturday editions.

I podcast my news.

I usually watch the news at 11 AM, 2 PM, 5 PM, and 11 PM.

I read news on the internet almost daily.

I don’t get antsy if I miss it, because I watch and read so damn much of it anyway.

I watch evening at 5:pm – 6:45pm and night news… CNN for 39 seconds(because it repeats all day and you only need to see if anything’s happening in the world) and weather network…. and I watch Talk shows like Jay Leno and John Stewart…and I listen to CBC radio news at night

I read the newspaper every day, and get very anal if I miss it. In the mornings, while getting ready for work, I watch the local news. During the day I listen to radio news at work. Evening, I watch Countdown with Keith Oberman, and the Daily Show.

I second fooey.

No. I checked out of all media after the 9–11 crisis.

It is one of the most fear inducing and negative things a person can subject themselves to, and yes, I beleive highly addcitive. The addiction to constant negativity and world drama.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste on this tainted pap that is spoonfed to us countless hours a day.

I do not read, listen to or watch any form of media.

Once in a great while I might click on an article on my home page, but it is a rarity.

Mostly involving some sort of natural disaster, and even then it’s a quickie blip.

Media is not about keeping one informed, it is about control and manipulation and sensationalism.

I unhooked from the slow fear drip and I’m not missin’ a thing, watchin’ the full moon crossin’ the range. lol

I do not watch the evening news and economy and time constraints forced me to cancel my subscription to the newspaper. I listen to NPR and watch Stewart and Colbert.

I realized a long time ago that there is only about 10 minutes of news a day, max. Just as there is only about 1 minute of weather news, max. So we have a weather channel that spins that one minute into 24/7. And we have various TV sources that spin the 10 minutes into 24/7.

I have not turned on my TV for at least a year and have missed nothing whatever. I do get news online, usually starting with Yahoo home page and then google if I see something interesting.

I do like Shepard Smith on Fox and see him occasionally. Also like other Fox coverage. Also read the NY Times Sunday edition a couple of times a month.

I do watch the evening news. I’m not a news junkie, but I used to be. I started to cut back and I feel much calmer. I still watch the local news… I don’t go out of my way to watch it every day, though.

I very rarely watch the news on TV, I listen to it on the radio in my car and I also check the news online a few times a day.

@plethora, great insight. Certainly puts things into perspective.

For better or worse, I’ve long been a pretty obsessive news gatherer, but almost exclusively from non-MSM sources. I watch MSM mainly to compare the gloss to what I’ve already seen and read elsewhere.

And I still have the hots for Katie Couric.

Used to, religiously, but so many of today’s news readers, especially local ones, seem to me to be either amateurish or overly self-important that I don’t enjoy watching ‘em. Plus it’s hard to get the full measure of any story the short slices of time allotted to them on TV news.

daytonamisticrip's avatar

The only news i watch is fox 25 and 7 news. And i don’t get antsy if i miss it.

Pied_Pfeffer's avatar

I typically watch the BBC America news first thing in the morning for a more global perspective than what is offered by the local channels. Sometimes watch the local news channels in the evening to find out what is happening in the U.S. and in our town.

I like NBC Nightly and have a curiousity about the doppler and weather.

Local news has good weatherman. Crime up here.

I don’t watch the news unless my husband has it on. He is a news freak. He will watch political shows too. I am not interested. I usually just read about it on Yahoo.

wundayatta's avatar

I do not watch TV news. I haven’t seen it in at least a decade, I think.

I do read my local paper every day, and I listen to news and other public affairs shows on NPR two or three times a day. I am something of a news junkie, but not like I used to be. Occasionally I pick up news online, too—two or three times a week.

I might very well be one of those people that if asked who the presidnet is, might not be able to answer in a few more decades. May have nothing to do with dementia, so ‘they’ would need to ask me a different question, like the name of my goose. hahaha

If something big goes down I figure I’ll know about it soon enough.

Just like the weather, I just wake up and look outside. lol

I grew up with ch 7 eyewitness news (NY) on every evening before and during dinner and my parents always had it on at 11. It was always more just background noise but my day now feels incomplete if I don’t have the news on at 5 or 6 and always at 11. The news here is much different and I miss the familiar faces and voices of the NY news people.

YARNLADY's avatar

I try to watch the local news at least once a day, and if I miss it, I watch it on Comcast On Demand. I get my National and World news online.

second_guessing's avatar

I don’t watch much TV but yes the one thing i make time for around 6pm each night is the local and international news reports.
