If you had to pick a vegetable that most resembles your life, which would it be?

Asked by gravity (3116points) August 22nd, 2010

It can relate to the appearance or physical characteristics of the vegetable or even the taste. It might have a pungent and sharp or mellow and smooth flavor. It could be rough and bumpy or….well, you get the idea… maybe consider even the texture of it as you consume it.

I’m completely impartial to vegetables. Can I choose a fruit instead?

I would be peace.
Self-explanatory.

Potato. Good old solid, reliable, dependable, versatile spud. Well grounded too, which always helps :¬}

@muppetish sure! I’m flexible… go for it!

Squash.
Because I feel like I’m being squashed by my life at this time. Hopefully things will get better.

I’m definitely an apple. Somewhat boring and ordinary, but delicious, and there is something quite extraordinary about the core of an apple :) Bit like people.

Corn on the cob.

Lots of amazing little kernals make up the totality of me, and beneath my husk lies silk and sweetness. ;-)

Japanese persimmons…

If picked at just the right time, even the skin on the persimmon is sweet and delicious. It is too delicate of a flavor to pair with anything else. It is to savor alone…with your bare taste buds. Just what some of us prefer.

@MissA That reminds me of this poem. I adore Li-Young Lee :)

Brussels sprouts because most people call them the wrong thing.

Artichokes. Careful of the pricks.

@muppetish That was simply lovely. I saved it to reread and share. Thank you, very much.

@gravity Fiddlehead it is!

An onion, because there are layers and layers until you get to the soft sweet heart.

polinsteve's avatar

Does mushroom count? Covered in poop and kept in the dark.

skfinkel's avatar

@muppetish Thank you so much for the Li-Young Lee reference—a poet new to me. The persimmons poem was extraordinary!

Peppers I’m hot to trot ! sometimes! Use to be all the time…but, want to give everyone else a chance. Just being my considerate self. loll

Trillian's avatar

Onion for me too. Lots of layers, not necessarily anything soft or sweet at the heart, however.

MacBean's avatar

Onions could fit for me, too. Because I’m allergic to them. XD

le_inferno's avatar

Asparagus, because I make your pee smell. It’s a rare talent.

Frenchfry's avatar

@le_inferno Awesome. Talent indeed.

rooeytoo's avatar

I would be a cherry tomato, cute and little with thin skin and very sweet (heheheh, yeah right!!!)

finkelitis's avatar

An, asparagus, gone to seed.
