Have you ever eaten black rice?

Asked by philosopher (9065points) August 28th, 2010

I have never before even heard of black rice. Have you?
This study says it is a great antioxidant.
Does anyone know where to but it? Have you eaten it?
I hope someone has traveled some place where they eat it.
I am very curious.

Yes, a restaurant in my area serves it on their regular menu with Seabass http://www.tsunamimemphis.com/dinner_entree.html

I’ve eaten it, but not in any exotic location. I had it several times at the Stanford dining hall. My mom also bought some at a Chinese store once.

I think Whole Foods carries it. I get it at my local natural food store and I love it! Steam some broccoli, cut up a couple of fresh tomatoes, toss it all together with a light application of toasted sesame oil. Very simple and yummy.

@JilltheTooth
It sounds like something my son would enjoy.

@philosopher : I’ve served it as a main dish and a side, both. Everybody seems to like it. Now I want some.
