Meta Question

Frenchfry's avatar

Would you like to be able to ask more questions on Fluther?

Asked by Frenchfry (7591points) August 30th, 2010

I would like to ask more then 3. I guess ,I have a more curious mind. Who set the limit at three? Would you think asking five questions would hurt the site or make it better?

Lately I have been using my questions up… and then I forget what I wanted to ask by the next day. So, I have been wishing for more than 3, but I’m okay with the 3 a day limit in general.

muppetish's avatar

I’d like a nice, even four because that’s my favourite number. I’m okay with the three-question limit, though.

Seaofclouds's avatar

I’ve never used up my 3 questions a day, but I don’t ask a lot of questions on here. I really don’t mind the limit and I understand why it’s there. Increasing it wouldn’t have an effect on me. If you tend to forget questions you want to ask, I would recommend writing them down so that you can ask them another day.

MacBean's avatar

I’ve never asked three questions in a month, let alone a day. So I have no need for a higher limit. And I don’t want a higher limit, either. While some people might be able to ask five or more interesting, thoughtful questions in a day, more people already use their three for asinine crap. They really don’t need any extras.

Frenchfry's avatar

I gave you all raspberries. I don’t think it would hurt. I guess I am alone on this.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

On wis.dm, there was no limit and boy was there a lot of stupid.

Frenchfry's avatar

I am not talking about being able to ask as many as you want but a few more?

bippee's avatar

I didn’t know there was a limit because I’m new and haven’t asked any questions. Can’t imagine why 5 would be so bad tho!

Coloma's avatar

I’m cool…I rarely ask any! lol

janbb's avatar

I’m with @MacBean . I’ve been a member for years and have never felt the need for more than three. I also only probably average 3 a month or so. It’s good for people to have to think a bit.

marinelife's avatar

I am OK with the limit. The idea is to promote thoughtful questions.

CMaz's avatar

The limit makes for more thought out questions.

aprilsimnel's avatar

I ask so few questions, it doesn’t matter to me. If it were 4 or 5, that might not be so bad.

chyna's avatar

The limit should stay at three. Making someone wait might make them re-think their questions.

As a mod there are days I thank the Fluthergods for the limit. Trolls and spammers can auto post and create a lot of chaos. The limit has been a strong factor in controlling this.

Frenchfry's avatar

I am glad there is a limit. I do appreciate that. I just wanted to see if I could get a few more, Just a few. I am out voted. No Biggie. It would probably make me spend more time on here anyways then I already do which is no good. I have a life to run. LOL

Things come in threes.

Three is the magic number.

I’d like to see free Questions in the Meta Section so people are willing to ask more questions about how to use the site rather than asking in their reply to another thus causing (possibly) off-topic discussion (which I’ve done a few times).

I thought that since I was a newbie, there was a limitation. In Yahoo Answers, when you reach a certain level, you get to ask more Questions. When you reach Level 7, Questions are unlimited. I’m on over 30,000 points (Level 7) in Yahoo Answers and I struggle to ask more than 3 sensible Questions, anyhow.

Most people who ask (or want to ask) more than 3 Questions in any given day just want to get responses more than actual knowledgable replies.

YARNLADY's avatar

It’s better than the two they used to have.

There are some Q & A sites where unlimited questions lead to strange competitions from people who write “What is the capital of (this country)?” 195 times with a different country each time.

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

Honestly, I’d prefer it if the limit were one a day. I imagine a one-a-day limit would challenge users to really refine their questions, and ask only the most thought provoking and quality questions.

Your_Majesty's avatar

I rarely have the need to ask more than 3 questions a day. But I appreciate if we can ask more than 3 questions,we must admit that all of us should be allowed to ask everything we wanted. More question, more opportunity to answer the question. And yes, most of us are curious and the limit of the question just can’t stop us for being curious.

serafina's avatar

I really don’t mind, i prefer to answer anyway.

Do you think they would let me donate my 3 to you?

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

Great Caesar’s Ghost, it would be good to have more. Maybe the more larvae you get the higher questions you can ask that will get some of the dormant jellies swiming again.

Frenchfry's avatar

@serafina That’s is a good idea! Look at all these people that don’t use all theirs. We who want to ask more can PM and they can donate one. Nice. :)

serafina's avatar

@Frenchfry You should suggest it :)

Frenchfry's avatar

I think we just did, maybe, I have not seen the suggestion box . Have you? I have only been here like a month LOL

serafina's avatar

@Frenchfry Nope! But hopefully someone will see us and point us in the right direction….to the headmasters office lol :)

Frenchfry's avatar

@serafina hahaha Good one

I want more FrenchFry questions. I see NONE today. Hop to it, girl! More more more questions from you!

janbb's avatar

I’d like more questions about french fries….or maybe just french fries.

CMaz's avatar

I like to dip french fries in mustard.

downtide's avatar

I can’t even manage three decent questions a month, never mind three a day.

Mom2BDec2010's avatar

I would like it better to be able to ask 5.

Frenchfry's avatar

@Mom2BDec2010 another vote for more! Yeah. I still think we are out voted. I asked all my questions earlier. I am out. Here it night time. I can’t ask What song is in your head tonight? Anyone have any left would you please ask? haha . I am not saying endless. Just five. I can think of five really good ones. I mean I think they are good.

janbb's avatar

I’m with @downtide – I can’t think of three a week, let alone three or five a day. I’m all for diversity in the askers.

tedibear's avatar

I can’t imagine coming up with three quality, thought-provoking, interesting questions in a week, let alone a day! One of the things I like about Fluther is that I’m more likely to find interesting questions than on other Q&A sites. In my very humble opinion, the limit keeps the trolling and spamming potential down and makes for better question from and for all Jellies.

AshlynM's avatar

There’s always the next day.

There have been times when I’ve wanted to ask more than 3, but that’s why there are other question and answer sites.

The limit has been a godsend for me. I agree that it keeps trolling and spamming to a minimum, whereas other places just let you loose and do as you please. If I want a controlled, mature environment, Fluther is the place to be.
