Would Darwin regard a Creationist as a slow learner?

Asked by janmaru (32points) September 2nd, 2010

Darwin was an English naturalist who proposed a scientific theory about “evolution” as a complex process that he called natural selection. While a Scientist is always ready to question even his hypothesis, a Creationist, believes that the Bible is the foundation for natural laws. From this logical point of view, is it a Creationist far low down the chain of human evolution?

Perhaps so. I believe Darwin would.

Darwin was training to become a minister. He came to the conclulsion that natural selection was a fact only with great reluctance. By the way, stories of him recanting assertions made about evolution and natural selection on his deathbed are pure fiction,

“Though reticent about his religious views, in 1879 he responded that he had never been an atheist in the sense of denying the existence of a God, and that generally “an Agnostic would be the more correct description of my state of mind.”

He went as far as saying that “Science has nothing to do with Christ, except insofar as the habit of scientific research makes a man cautious in admitting evidence. For myself, I do not believe that there ever has been any revelation. As for a future life, every man must judge for himself between conflicting vague probabilities.”

Hey, I didn’t know the guy.
I like to think his only thoughts about it would be… “Jee, I’d really like to create a ham sandwich right now.

@Whitsoxdude It’s late…we’re in a hurricane…can I please have that sandwich?

Well considering this is the year 2010 he may consider the young earth creationists cynics rather than slow learners. There is a big difference between the two. Being a slow learner and only believing what you want to believe are two different things.
