Is there a definitive biography of Wyatt Earp?

Asked by josie (30934points) September 7th, 2010

I watched Tombstone the other night. Fabulous movie (I should have been there. Maybe I was. But that is another topic.).
My understanding is that much of what we know about Wyatt Earp is his own telling of his story, combined with a sketchy public record prior to his moving to Tombstone, plus testimony at the trial after the infamous gunfight ot the OK corral.
It is also my understanding that Wyatt Earp was capable of being a bit of a bullshitter.
So, has anyone really ever sat down, done a lot of research, and written the best, complete, definitive biography of Wyatt Earp? If so, what is the title and the author?
