What are your opinions on Google Instant?

It has only appeared for me at some point in the last 6 hours, but I don’t think I like it much. Is it the way forward? (And is it likely to remain this way forever or will I have a “classic” google option?)
Is there an irony that Google Instant is actually slower than before, now that it is desperately trying to update as I write each word in the search box?
