How often do you charge your Droid, Iphone, HTC HD2, etc.?

Asked by chelle21689 (7907points) September 8th, 2010

First tell me what type of phone you have?
How often do you use it?
How often do you have to charge it?

I’m thinking of getting a HTC HD2, but I don’t know how the battery life is. I’m afraid I’d have to charge it like 2–3 times a day!

I don’t use my iPhone a lot but still usually have to charge it every two days—and that’s with Push and WiFi on, 3G off. I love the phone but believe the claims about better battery life than previous models is pure hokum.

I charge my HTC Incredible once or twice a day, depending on how much I’m playing on it. When I first got it, I was on it literally every minute I was awake, and had to recharge it every 4 or 5 hours.
If the phone has multi-tasking, you’ll have to charge it a lot more often than if it doesn’t.
Luckily, the charger is just a micro-usb, so I can just buy a few adapters and hook it into anywhere with a usb cord. I have several home chargers, a car charger, and can charge at friends and families houses, too.

Yes, I heard it has a universal charger! lol

@chelle21689 Yes. If you have a Kindle, it’s the same. You can see what it looks like here the micro is on the right, and then the mini, which most digital cameras (at least till a year ago) use is on the left. You can buy adapters for regular to micro, type b to micro, or mini to micro – and then back again! Some are kinda expensive, but I found a good supplier on ebay and got several for under $10 or $20 total.

So the HTC HD2 has only a few more minutes talking time (or playing games, surfing the web, whatever) than my Incredible, but several hundred hours more standby time than the Incredible, so it’ll really depend on how much time you’re actually on it vs how much time it’s just turned on.

I have a MyTouch. I charge it once every 24 hours if I’m not using it for much—phone and browsing. However, if I do some navigating, or I am using Pandora, it uses up the battery much more quickly. I try to have the phone hanging on the charging cable if I’m doing any of those things.

I have a Droid and usually only have to charge it at night. That’s with me sending some text messages, talking on it, and having my messengers up and running when I’m not home. If I get on the web browser a lot during the day, I have to charge it midday as well. Also, if I use it as a navigator while driving, I keep it plugged in the car charger because the runs down the battery pretty quickly.

I have a Droid and I can charge it every 2 nights I’d say. Sometimes every 3 nights if I really haven’t used it much. But the battery life seems to be diminishing.

@deni Are you letting it drain completely every few weeks? Did you do any upgrades or add an app that may be draining it?

I charge my iPhone 4 about every 72 hours and leave it plugged in overnight.

@papayalily I never mess with apps. I let it drain….yeah I’d say probably once a week, usually by accident. No upgrades really. Honestly it seems like ever since I moved, it charges in about 20 mins and drains faster. Who knows!

Droid Eris. I usually just charge mine when I go to bed at night. The exception is when I use the gps feature then I have to charge it twice a day. Unless you use it non-stop and you require your data to be refreshed very frequently I wouldn’t expect to charge it more than once a day.
