Possibly NSFW ... How much should bathing suits reveal?

Asked by sleepdoc (4700points) September 13th, 2010

While at the pool a few times during the last few weeks, I saw quite the array of bathing suits. Some of them really left little to the imagination once they got wet. Is there such a thing as being too revealing at the pool?

Yes, based on some of the suits that I saw this year as well.

@marinelife what did you end up seeing that you weren’t expecting?

I saw a very good looking woman in a bikini, she was about 6–7 months pregnant. I’m still processing that.

@Adirondackwannabe… Yes I saw that as well during the last few weeks.

I gave up judging people a long time ago, so for me, pretty much anything goes as long as it doesn’t mess with kids if it’s a public pool. Swim naked for all I care.

I am not a prude and show it if you got it within limits of course. That being said suits like this are just plain wrong.

Two words…..WHITE SPEEDOs

@iammia…..And you didn’t appreciate it?

Not really when worn by an overweight greasy ape.

@iammia… fair enough

I’m just a young guy so of course I’m for seeing more of a woman’s body. I actually feel that more people should embrace the beauty of the human body. After travelling around Europe, I realized america doesn’t do this as much.

Anything but a thong bathing suit.

I do not care how “perfect” your body is. It is TMI.
I find it flirtatious and insecure.

I want to enjoy the beach. Not get a boner.

You know: there are nude beaches.

Nude beaches are a whole other thing. :-)

The intent is to be… Nude. Or nude like.

Depends on the body wearing it. I know what I Like & I like what I see….again, depends on the bod :¬)

If it’s at a public pool, I would think it should cover more, not show “everything”. Save that for the beach.

However much the person wearing it feels comfortable revealing.

Do pasties count?

Seaminglysew's avatar

ChazMaz, you go ahead and wear your pasties, but maybe try to match them to your speedo!

There was a guy who wore a thong at the city pool. He was told that it was to revealing so the following week he wore his tighty wities under it. We laughed so hard we thought we would drown.
People are people, we’ll get all kinds.

I’m with Simone_De_Beauvior on this one – if you feel comfortable, you’re not revealing too much.

I’m here on the balcony of my beach motel suite right now, and I see every state of undress. I marveled when a group of women who looked like the swimsuit models in magazines and no one even glanced their way – it’s so common.

There seems to be some sort of unspoken limit to ‘public decency’ but it’s measured in microns, not inches.

I don’t think there is one set answer. It depends where you are and who you are with…the total circumstances. Bottom line is keep your dignity, have fun and be comfortable.
