Know any good Spanish-speaking bands?

Asked by etignotasanimum (3376points) September 13th, 2010

So for homework in my Intermediate Spanish class, we’re doing a music swap. The plan is that we’re supposed to find Spanish music in the genre that we like, and bring a copy of it to class with lyrics.
I don’t really know what genre I’m into, but I like Muse, Franz Ferdinand, David Bowie…So, I dunno, rock? Can anyone recommend a band like that for me? SPANISH is necessary.

Some of my favorite Spanish bands/artists are:

Amaral (from Spain, kinda acoustic, generally nice music)
Belanova (Mexican, electro-poppy fun stuff)
La Oreja de Van Gogh (Spanish-Basque. Their earlier stuff includes covers of U2 and Pearl Jam)
La Quinta Estacion (Spain. Their song Algo Mas is one of my favorites <3)

Tiziano Ferro is an Italian artist who does a lot of songs in Spanish. His stuff kinda techno-rockish dance music.

I also like the bands Kudai, Miranda!, and the Buena Vista Social Club. Sorry, I’d have more for you but I have been neglecting my Spanish music collection lately… eep.

Zoe my number one band. Their lyrics are very trippy though, that’s why they rock! They are in Spanish and few in English.

I also wish you could include instrumental music, because the flamenco guitar duo Rodrigo and Gabriela are fantastic.

yeah Zoe its good, Joaquin sabina is the best ! haha, autenticos decadentes have the rythm :P, Ska-p is just hreat, listen to Fabulosos Cadillacs, they are great, if you like metal look for argentinian bands like Hermetica, V8, Rata Blanca, Malon; la renga at hard rock.

Staying at argentina, I think you Could like Attaque 77 (sometimes some punk) and flema at punk rock; because of the bandsyou say you like, You MUST like Soda Stereo; maybe enanitos verdes.

if you like hard rock we should go to spain, you can look for Baron Rojo, Obus, Lujuria,

Mexican bands usually sounds more rock / pop, you could like caifanes, molotov, la cuca, la gusana ciega,

And if you like ska, los caligaris, salon victoria, inspector, panteon rococo, kapanga, .. i would never end

Zoe – Love
Joaquin Sabina – Pacto Entre Caballeros
